Re: smoking
Sat, December 20, 2008 - 2:43 PMit takes 6-8 years+ for iboga to get close to maturity. The special requirements and atmosphere for iboga, would not make it worth the work of years for something you would not have very much useable product from.

Tue, December 23, 2008 - 8:48 AMOM with all due respect!
Why would you want to try this?
I don't believe you would gain anything beneficial from wanting to smoke the substance.

Re: smoking
Tue, December 23, 2008 - 3:25 PMOm is a nice guy, just a little enthusiastic. And he is fond of smoking things in pipes, so that is probably why he thought of it. But people have done it, for specific effects, so Om wouldn't be the first to think or experiment in that direction. But with any plant (or chemical) it is good to have a slow developing relationship with it, to learn from the plant, so its energy leads to useful and productive changes in conciousness and living patterns. my 2 cents.... -

Re: smoking
Tue, December 23, 2008 - 3:42 PMOm is part of a string of alts, so my patience in this case is a little thinner than usual ;-)
People put mushrooms in their pipes as well. Personally, I see very little use in this, but that's just me.
Good advice though Travis, and others. -

Re: smoking
Sun, August 2, 2009 - 4:17 PMyes you can smoke Iboga. It is a traditional way of taking it, though the term traditional is ify, as there are so many different Bwiti traditions. Some smoke Iboga, for quicker stronger effects, some say it is the equivalent of blasphemy, some eat mushrooms as well, some believe Iboga to be much purer, not to be mixed. Many traditional Bwiti villages use marijuana with Iboga, many temples do not allow it.
I have smoked a good deal of Iboga, but in my opinion a tea is better, take a good quantity of root bark and 2 liters of water, boil it until about 3/4 evaporated, drink up, quickly.
The Bwiti is how the Divine manifests in you through the teachings of Iboga. Mixing plant spirits can confuse this, as Iboga is the only ehtnogen that is used equally as much for hunting. The first time some one takes Iboga, he may be unable to move much, but a Pygmie can take the same dose to expand his awareness. This is the purity, the strength and the lasting changing power of Iboga. Prayer through concentration, break the bonds.

Could you elaborate on smoking methods of "Crowned wood" ?
Never mixed with tobacco ??? Nicotonic receptor conflict with Iboga!
Weed enhances the initial effects of Iboga' but interferes with the patterning after you recover from the initial effects' also nulifies "Dream space" hence lessens the learning that can be gained from Iboga'
Best go clear of every other substance whilst working with this plant' until you understand the processes of ingestion'
Also using other plants can interfere with Edika an the process of weening off of a large amount of Iboga !
I have smoked Iboga' it makes the chest tight' possibly from small quantities of voacamine in the woods'
I like your comments on the body getting used to Iboga' I myself are seldom troubled by the motion sickness the neophyte would experience' even on quite large doses'
